Inclusive Eastbourne (formerly Eastbourne Design For All) launched this community toilet scheme in March 2015.

CHANGING PLACES TOILET FACILITIES & SPACE TO CHANGE TOILET FACILITIES

CHANGING PLACES toilet facility enables personal care off the floor. Providing a hoist and adjustable adult size bench and privacy screen for those who need extra space and carers to assist them and cannot use other toilet facilities. (They are not for baby changing). Available locally in The Beacon shopping centre operated by a radar key and on the Seafront by the Bandstand on the Middle Prom operated by Eastbourne Council. A key is available from the Seafront Office on Lower Prom or for further information on Changing Places and how to apply for a membership key on line see the Council’s website

SPACE TO CHANGE FACILITY also enable personal care off the floor, maybe in a smaller room with either a ceiling tracked or mobile hoist, fixed or mobile adult size bench, privacy screen.

These businesses will kindly let anyone can use their Space to Change facility that cannot use other toilet facilities when they are open.

RADAR KEYS

Most wheelchair accessible toilets have RADAR locks, so ALWAYS carry your RADAR key!
Keys may be bought from:
Eastbourne Visitor Centre, Welcome Building Compton Street BN21 4BP.
Eastbourne Shopmobility, outside The Beacon shopping centre near Marks and Spencer.

Some of the local mobility shops sell them for example Proctor, Station Parade, Care & Co at Hilliers and Clearwell Mobility in Seaside.

Radar Keys can be bought online for example at Disability Rights.

 

OPENING TIMES

Eastbourne Borough Council public toilets are open 7 am till dusk every day. Hyde Gardens toilets are open 8am-6pm daily, attended. The ones at the Pier and Bandstand are attended and have different opening times depending on the season April to October, November to April. See times below.

 

REPORT A PROBLEM

On occasions toilets have to be closed following misuse or for repairs and maintenance.

If you experience any problems with Eastbourne Borough Council public toilets report them to :

Private toilets in shopping centres, cafes, shops and venues are the responsibility of the owners any concerns or complaints should be addressed to them directly.
